Problem

The current Fox Sports website scoreboard is out of date and does not fit the need of the sports fans anymore. It’s no longer just about scores.

 

Solution

With the limited amount of time, a five days Google Venture design sprint was initiated to get the project started. By the end of the first day, the team went through all the insights and reframing them into opportunity areas, and innovate on problems founds in our research.

How might we provide fans with a relevant snapshot into the world of sports

The other techinal problem that we needed to solve was to make sure that we would allow the score-centre to be adaptive to different types of sports and being able to show different types of content/scores within those score tiles. The solution was to create a modular tile that is flexible enough to accommodate all the different sports. By the fourth day, we already have the initial design that we later tested on the fifth day.

Modular design approach

The scoreboard was designed as a system of modules, designed by considering the scoreboard as a set of reusable building blocks that are customised based on particular sports.
